Student loans – a ‘gateway’ to more debt?

People who attend university have double the amount debt on average (£12,445) as those who don’t (£7,105), and that’s excluding the additional burden of student loans.

Nearly half (47%) of university students and graduates in the UK, believe that their student loan has made them more comfortable with other forms of borrowing.

Nearly 4 in 10 (39%) say the experience has made them more likely to borrow again, according to new research from credit reference agency Equifax.

Aston spoke to Stuart Holland, head of government relations at Equifax and infuencers Elvire Matu & Jordan Greene.
