The battle for the glitterball trophy begins on Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing returns for it’s 20th series with the launch night taking place this past Friday (23rd September) which saw the celebrites paired with their professional partners and for the first time in the shows history there are two same gender couples.

Here are the celebrities and who they’re paired with:

• Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds paired with Nikita Kuzman
• Comdienne and actress Ellie Taylor paired with Johannes Radebe
• Singer and broadcaster Fluer East paired with new professional Vito Coppola
• TV wildlife presenter Hamza Yassin paired with Jowita Pryzstal
• TV presenter Helen Skelton paired with Gorka Marquez
• Eastenders actor James Bye paired with Amy Dowden
• Comedienne and actress Jayde Adams paired with Karen Hauer
• Loose Women panellist and broadcaster Kaye Adams paired with Kai Widdrington
• Actress, singer and TV presenter Kym Marsh paired with Graziano Di Prima
• Singer Matt Goss paired with Nadiya Bychkova
• Singer and actress Molly Rainford paired with new professional Carlos Gu
• Broadcaster Richie Anderson paired with last years winning professional Giovani Pernice
• Football legend Tony Adams paired with 2017 winning professional Katya Jones
• Broadcaster Tyler West paired with Dianne Buswell
• Actor Will Mellor paired with Nancy Xu

A day later saw all 15 couples take to the floor for the first time this series earning scores from the judges with actor Will Mellor with his partner Nancy Xu and TV wildlife presenter Hamza Yassin and his partner Jowita Przystal impressed the judges as they both topped this weeks leaderboard with a score of 34 out of 40.

All the scores from the judges from this past weekend are carried over to this weekend where Strictly Come Dancing returns where the first celebrity will be eliminated.
