The rise of the online content creator

1 in 8 adults have considered becoming or are currently an online content creator.

This is according to research by Google Search.

In fact, there are over 1.1K UK channels on YouTube that have over 1M subscribers, while over 7.5K
attract more than 100K subscribers. This is up 20% year on year.

In particular, a third of those aged between 18 and 24 are actively involved in online content
creation or are considering it in the future and with over 80% of watch time for UK channels coming from outside of the country, it’s easy to see the opportunity of a global audience.

Now, some of the biggest stars in the online creative space are coming together to offer first-hand
insights on how to use YouTube’s open platform as a springboard for launching a career.

Aston spoke to Jamie Spafford from the Sorted Food Channel.
