World Sleep Day

The average person gets less than 6 hours (5h 52mins) of sleep during the working week, with stress, worries or a racing mind (43%) the main reasons behind a lack of shut eye.

This World Sleep Day (Friday 15th March), sleep scientist Dr Sophie Bostock is encouraging people to improve their bedtime routine, and their health and wellbeing, by drastically improving their sleep.

The new research, commissioned by Hotpod Yoga, shows an irregular sleep schedule (21%) and screen time (19%) are also to blame for the lack of shut eye, with a lack of sleep having a negative effect on us. The figures also highlight that being tired impacts daily productivity and performance through: lack of energy or motivation (53%), mood swings and irritability (36%) and decreased concentration (32%).

Aston spoke to Dr Sophie Bostock, sleep evangelist and founder of The Sleep Scientist.
