Digital Blues Nomination

7th June 2012
Posted by Ashwyn Smyth

For the second year running, Digital Blues on Gateway 97.8, the weekly blues show presented by Ashwyn Smyth which goes out every Wednesday evening on Gateway 97.8 (repeated Sunday), has been nominated in the Independent Blues Broadcast category of the British Blues Awards (BBAs), the UK’s premier awards for the blues.

This year, the category has been specifically ‘tweaked’ to ensure that an independent show will win – in previous year’s the BBC’s Paul Jones show has always won!

Ashwyn is asking everyone involved with Gateway 97.8 to take a moment to visit the British Blues Awards website – www.britishbluesawards.com – and to vote for Digital Blues on Gateway 97.8 in the Independent Blues Broadcast category. Voting is open now and closes on 31st July 2012.

The organisers of the BBAs are encouraging voters to vote in as many categories as possible and it is appreciated that many of the names will be unknown to many at Gateway 97.8.

Essex based band, Hokie Joint, is nominated in the following categories:

Male vocals – Jojo Burgess
Band – Hokie Joint
Guitar – Joel Fisk
Harmonica – Giles King
Bass – Fergie Fulton
Drums – Stephen Cutmore
Album – The Music Starts to Play, Hokie Joint

In the Kevin Thorpe Original Song category, Guy Tortora’s ‘Prodigal Song’ was the nomination of the listeners to Digital Blues on Gateway 97.8.

Please note that when you have submitted your votes you should receive an e-mail from the BBA with a verification link.

YOU MUST CLICK ON THIS LINK FOR YOUR VOTES TO BE CONFIRMED. If you do not, your votes will be ignored and will not count! If you do not receive an e-mail, please check your spam mailbox.

Hope this helps and thank you in advance for your support!
