Listen: is the nation controlled by fear?

Streaming service NOW reveals the nation’s biggest fears, where they stem from and how they have control over our everyday lives, in line with new psychological thriller and book adaptation, The Fear Index being available to watch on NOW and Sky from 10th February.

When looking at regions in the UK, many of us are most afraid of death and getting older, but there are some differences. In London for example, the top fear is being alone, while in Manchester it’s being buried alive. And when it comes to technology, people across the UK are most afraid of having private information hacked.

The digital age has delivered new fears which wouldn’t have been considered before – a significant amount of people fear that their smart technology is watching them, or that they could lose their job due to automation. The younger generations (under 40s) were more likely to fear that tech developments may cost them their personal privacy or potentially their job.

Ros spoke to psychologist and TV presenter Emma Kenny.
