Students fear that they could end up homeless

With rising rents and the cost of living crisis pushing millions of people towards destitution, thousands of UK university students are at risk of homelessness.

New research reveals that one in seven (15%) university students worry they could become homeless within the next six months because they can’t afford the current cost of living.

Two thirds (66%) are struggling to afford their housing costs or are currently behind on their rent – with nearly three in four (73%) forced to borrow funds from family members to pay for essentials such as food and rent.

Ros spoke to Charlotte Kensett, director of brand and engagement at Nationwide.
