Neil Gits A Cheap Breakfast

“Music is my first love…” as the old song says but   ”…food isn’t far behind”   as it doesn’t !  Yep, back to waffle totally unrelated to the show this week on the blog…

Of course, whatever time of the week you lsten to “The Old Gits Soul Show” it will have been a good few hours since I had my breakfast, but I am a great believer in the old adage that it is the most important meal of the day, setting you up nicely to deal with the tasks ahead – and when you get a bargain at the same time … happy days !!  Lately, I’ve stumbled across three such occasions all in the Basildon area, starting with good old Maccy D’s who shoved a handful of money off vouchers through my door recently some of which I used to feed me and Nathan for just £4.57 one morning. Not the best brekkie we’ll ever have, granted, but the food they serve pre-10.30 in my mind is vastly superior to the burgers and stuff available afterwards…

On the Wickford side of town, one of the carveries has started doing a breakfast deal and again when a voucher found its way to me, it had to be used ! Quite decent, especially as you could help yourself to as much mushrooms, beanz and tomatoes as you liked to go with the well coooked sausage bacon & eggs.  But hats off to Asda – I have been seriously under impressed with their efforts at feeding us once or twice this year, but their “Full Breakfast” at Pipps Hill filled the two of us up for under a tenner and everything was done just as we liked it and served with a smile as we fought over how to swop beanz for bacon and eggs for mushrooms ! Gosh, I’m feeling hungry now … if music be the food of love…er…I’ll have another Full English pease !
