Neil Gits Beyond Paradise

It would seem I have become a little bit of a TV aficionado having spent the vast majority of my evenings over the last three years on the sofa watching telly. So much so, that when Nathan, Amy and I did a pub quiz the other week, we played our joker not on the music round as you’d expect (!) but on TV & Films (he is doing film studies ay University) and promptly scored 10/10 doubling our score to 20 points ! Apart from joining all the dots from missing out on countless big shows, finding out who’s been in what and with whom and what else they’ve been in too, I’ve also found it useful when putting together the non-football parts of my “Retirement Road Trips”, inspiring places to go and landmarks to see.

For instance, this week I spent a couple of days in Devon & Cornwall, staying in a hotel close to the Tamar Bridge which joins the two counties in the South-West and realized that I was only 20 minutes drive away from Looe. I’ve been watching “Death In Paradise” (only 6 more series left to catch up on now!) and have jumped up to the new spin-off series “Beyond Paradise” which although set in North Devon, was actually filmed in South Cornwall at Looe. It looks beautiful on screen and although it was nowhere near as sunny as when captured for the TV last summer, it still provided an excellent much needed stretch of the legs and some lovely fresh sea air, walking around the harbour, on the “Banjo Pier” , across the bridge and up the hill for “that shot”. Martin’s Dairy Bakery & Tea Rooms also do the biggest most amazing Belgian Buns I have ever tasted too !!
