Even with all the wonders of the internet readily available at my fingertips in the studio, there are plenty of occasions when I just have to rely on the old grey matter when it comes to telling my loyal listener some of the useful information he/she really needs to know to accompany the cool soul I play each week ! Sometimes I just can’t find what I want online and sometimes I just can’t find it quick enough – and I’m sure you’d rather I just “busked it” and kept the music flowing rather than leave two minutes of “dead air” while I click away on my little mouse. So I was quite pleased when I did some research after last week’s show and was delighted to find I was right – twice! – about both Freddie Hubbard & Joe Sample, being a jazz trumpeter and a keyboard player (with The Crusaders) respectively.
