It’s a bit of an obvious thing for a radio DJ to do, but I always play an instrumental cut just before the end of the show to save having to fade out a fine soul singer in mid sentence when the news looms “at the top of the hour” . However, some of the tracks I’ve found to serve this purpose deserve more than a brief two minute cameo at the end and indeed some of the jazz-funk classic tunes are cherished by soul fans every bit as a brilliant vocal performance by the likes of Teddy & Luther. So listen out each week around halfway through my “Old Gits Soul Show” for just such a tune in all its fully extended glory ! Lately I’ve played Azymuth’s “Jazz Carnival” and Atmosfear’s “Dancing In Outer Space” to give you two examples – and there’s plenty more where they came from ! Now check the list for this week…
