2: News items

a) Shaun Badham contacted us about a local creative project called Bas-Arts-Index. This is a free online database that acts as a directory
for creative individuals, groups and organisations from,
living, working in, or making work about Basildon.
They have started organising Bas-Arts-Socials and
hopefully more activity in the future.
We’re hoping to have an interview with Shaun
about the project for the October broadcast.

b) BASILDON ARTS WEEK Ryedene Primary and Nursery School
are working in partnership with Basildon Council to bring
together Basildon primary schools and the community
to showcase the creativity of the future. Children from six
Basildon primary schools have taken inspiration from
Basildon Town Centre and the local community to develop
a series of paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media
and sculpture. In addition, pupils from selected schools
have participated in six weeks of master classes working
with a professional artist to develop their skills to create
stunning and colourful pieces of work. The children have
worked in a variety of styles from Pop Art to African Art
and have learnt many new skills along the way.
