After a rare week off , I returned live to Studio 1 last Monday to launch a “new season” of “The Old Gits Soul Show” – well I tweaked the running order around a little and introduced one new feature, you’ve got to big it up a bit !! It was really good to get stuck into my soul, jazz-funk and disco collection and pluck out at least EIGHT vinyl cuts from the 24 playlisted and even if I say so myself, there were some blinding tunes played ! 🙂
The “new feature” is called ‘Sounds Of The Street’ and saw me dip into “Street Sounds Volume 1” to play the first of many cult tracks Morgan Khan’s wonderful label brought us in the 80s. Over the summer I will be working my way through the entire series of standard compilations and bringing back memories of discovering tunes that had previously been almost unobtainable to us mere mobile DJs and each month were suddenly to be found in the High Street stores, opening our ears and our lives. There will be another cut from that first edition next week, but for now make sure you don’t miss out on the repeat of a particularly fine show by listening in at 5pm this Saturday evening …
