To be honest, I really should get out more on my Saturday nights off and check out / keep in touch with some more of the “Recommended Old Gits Nights Out” events I plug here and on my show (the latest list is fully up to date below by the way !) but the temptation to stay indoors is just too great most weeks ! My 14 year old son is fanatical about playing for his football team every Sunday morning and inevitably dad has got involved as Team Sponsor and “Corner Flag Monitor” so I have to go along too. The kick-offs are usually 10am or 10.30am and it’s hard enough getting out of bed at that time after a night in, let alone after getting on down out on the floor at a bar with other “Old Gits” the night before !! Not only that it always seems to be bitterly cold that early in the day, especially at the team’s rather wide open and exposed pitch location … and even more especially when the boys lose 5-0 as they did last week !! 🙁
It all makes Monday seem like light relief and although that day isn’t everyone’s favourite time of the week – I love it !! It means peace and quiet alone in the warmth of the home office and later on popping out to Basildon for a bit of cheeky fast food before pitching up at the studio to bring you another top selection of soul, jazz-funk and disco goodies from the 70s 80s & beyond.
