On a personal level it’s nice to have some familiar names and old mates tuned into the show each week, chipping in with the odd email, text message or Facebook comment, but it’s also good when someone new listens and I find out about it for the first time.
OK, I am not Chris Evans who probably gets about 2,000 new listeners every day and couldn’t possibly know all the names of his 6 million audience – but it is a nice surprise when someone I didn’t even think would be glued to the radio, and checking the tunes!
Whilst out last Saturday at the Crown, I hung out with DJs Bully & MJ and got some nice feedback and met one or two other soulful folk who were aware of what I do. Then on Sunday at my weekly quiz night at Charlies Bar in Brentwood (which has very little to do with playing soul music at all!) I got talking to some regulars at the end of the night and they were all keen to find out about the show and promised to tune in. I don’t know yet if they did, but for Bob, Mack & Denzil … there’s another chance today at 5pm right here at www.gateway978.com!
