Neil Gits To Explore Cardiff

27th August 2012
Posted by Neil Matthew

This evening’s Bank Holiday Monday “Old Gits Soul Show” is broadcast “live”, as it is every Monday at the usual time of 7pm – 9pm, but unlike previous holiday Mondays this year, there is no ingeneous theme – as I was too busy taking a few days off to discover Wales to think of one ! I didn’t even get the slightest bit of inspiration from music heard in shops or restaurants either, so I have simply pulled together a few tunes I’ve had up my sleeve for a few weeks and slotted them in along side some of my valued listeners’  requests. Just for the sake of completism, below is the last show’s playlist, including a couple of tracks by Shakatak to tie in with my interview with the group’s Roger Odell. More from the legendary British jazz-funk outfit over the next couple of weeks ahead of their gig at the Towngate…

The Tunes :

Jacksons  –  Show You The Way To Go

Dayton  –  Sound Of Music

Isley Brothers  –  Harvest For The World

Smokey Robinson & The Miracles – Come Round Here (I’m The One You Need)

Brenda Taylor  –  You Can’t Have Your Cake & Eat It Too

George Benson  –  I Just Wanna Hang Around You

Shakatak  –  Easier Said Than Done

Sister Sledge  –  Got To Love Somebody

Cool Million feat Gary Poole  –  Running Around

Voyage – Souvenirs

Shakatak  –  Steppin’

Average White Band  – Stop The Rain

Three Degrees  –  Year Of Decision

Sharon Redd  –  Never Give You Up

Kool & The Gang  –  Take My Heart (You Can Have It)

Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes – You Know How To Make Me Feel So Good

Maxwell  –  Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder)

Nancy Wilson  –  Call Me

Dino Terrell  –  You Can Do It
