Given the current climate, it’s no surprise parents are concerned about how to keep their children entertained this summer – and how much their energy bills will increase by, given they will be spending more time at home than usual.

With the schoolwork finishing, 40% of mums and dads hope their kids can switch off over the next few weeks and enjoy a summer digital detox, free from computers, phones, tablets and other connected devices., which will also help reduce energy consumption, something which concerns almost a quarter (24%) of parents.

With half seeking free events and activities for their children to alleviate the pressure on their finances, saving money on energy (26%) while helping the environment (32%) is key to managing domestic bills.

Smart Energy GB and the Wild Network has come up with 42 different sustainable activities for parents to keep their children entertained every day of the summer holidays, from games to energy free time.

Aston spoke to Fflur Lawton from Smart Energy GB, who shared her advice on how families can manage their household energy consumption.
