Organising Christmas this year has involved a lot of back and forth for many families, and plans are still up in the air for some of us. However, one thing remains certain – when it comes to gratitude we’re going to let it show, let it show, let it show!

New research from Co-op shows more than a third (37%) of UK households are preparing to make this Christmas the most special celebration we can, because our families deserve it more than ever (44%). It will be a more intimate affair this year, with more than half of us (%) catering for less plates around the dinner table.

Putting the tree up, doing the Christmas shopping, watching Christmas films and listening to festive songs have all topped the poll of things we have done earlier than usual this year in order to spread the festive spirit.

Aston spoke to Ade Adepitan, TV presenter and Paralympic medallist and Simon Cairns, head of drinks at Co-op to discuss this research and dissect how we’ll be going the extra mile this Christmas, to run through some of the extra special choices we can make this year when it comes to our purchases and what new emerging trends we’re seeing in festive food and drink for 2020.
