Brits swapping soggy sandwiches for cocktails and caviar as posh picnic popularity soars

Gone are the days of crusty bread and room-temperature refreshments on an all-too-small blanket… it seems the modern-day picnic is a much fancier affair.

With Brits embracing the benefits of outdoor dining over the past year, whether by choice or necessity, a new generation of posh picnickers has been born, with two fifths (43%) of people admitting they are putting more effort than ever into their al fresco dining since the first lockdown in March 2020.

With our picnic preferences seeming more extravagant than ever, BLOOM Gin has coined the new posh picnic term ‘blanquetting’, as Brits plan to class up the grass this summer.

Aston spoke to etiquette expert Jo Bryant to offer picnickers her top tips on how to get the most out of your extravagant summer picnic parties.
