Jamie East on the must see TV shows & films for 2021

While it’s difficult to pinpoint many – or even any – perks to our lockdown lifestyles, there’s no argument that one of the things that has cheered us up, kept us occupied and distracted is TV and film.

In fact, TV and film (36%) is at the top of the list of things that have helped keep the nation’s spirits up over the past year – ahead of calls with friends and family (30%) and music (27%). 44% of us say our TV binges and movie marathons have allowed us to escape the stresses of the day, and a further 36% are looking forward to discovering new films, series and documentaries this coming year.

The comfort and company our small screens have provided us with over the past 12 months is more than evident, as more than a quarter of us admit a new series of one of our favourite shows is one of the things we’re most looking forward to in 2021.

Choosing what to watch in the meantime is the tricky bit. Nearly three quarters (74%) of people have watched something on TV because they heard about it on the radio, with one in ten (10%) saying they often do this.

Sky will be bolstering it’s catalogue of choice with it’s biggest ever line-up of TV and films this year.. More than 125 original series, films and specials will air in 2021 – a 50% increase from last year – with a big boost in original films and documentaries.

Aston spoke to Jamie East, presenter and TV & Film critic to discuss the most anticipated titles and his top tips and what you should be adding to your list to watch in 2021.
