Zoom dates, tier-crossed lovers and unexpected self-isolations… 2020 wasn’t exactly the best year to be single, but with the glimmer of hope that the vaccination brings, experts predict that 2021 will be a fruitful 365 days for those looking for love.

Today Match releases data showing that Sunday 3rd January, dubbed Single Sunday, was the busiest day for online dating for the fourth year running, as sign ups to the dating site increase by 45% from an average day. Although motivation might be wavering for singles who are having to date virtually yet again, it’s anticipated that this will be the dating site’s busiest ever year. And itseems new dating criteria is now in play as 28% of Brits say they are likely to only date someone if they have had the vaccine.

According to further research, a quarter (24%) of singles hope to meet someone this new year and although the UK has entered its third lockdown, millions of Brits have already begun to make up for lost time.

Aston spoke to dating coach Hayley Quinn to discuss what she thinks 2021 holds for those looking for love and to offer her best advice on dating in the new norm, including how to stay motivated during lockdown 3.0.
