Towngate Theatre and Simon Fielding Ltd are delighted to announce that a full length screening of their 5-star smash hit pantomime, Snow White, will be available to stream this festive season.

The popular Basildon-based venue is renowned for their spectacular pantomimes, which have won nationwide acclaim from their 5-star reviews in leading theatre publication, The Stage, plus scooping a number of nominations and awards from the Great British Pantomime Awards. Earlier this year they confirmed that their upcoming pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, was to be postponed to 2021 due to the ongoing Covid-19 guidelines that affect attending and producing live theatre performances. This screening will be an opportunity for the much-loved Theatre to give some joy and laughter back to their audiences, who will all be desperately missing their annual pantomime experience this year.

2018’s Snow White was a spectacular jewel in the crown of the Towngate’s impressive panto repertoire, which holds the title of being the biggest-selling pantomime in the venue’s history. Starring Basildon favourites Simon Fielding as loveable Muddles and Sophie Ladds as the evil Brunhilda Sauerkraut, this production was awarded 5 star reviews from The Stage and prominent theatre reviewer West End Wilma. It also had a star-turn from TV favourite and local Essex lad, Rylan Clark-Neal, who appears via screen in the iconic role of the Magic Mirror.

There are two screening dates to choose from:

  • 11am on Wednesday 23 December until Monday 28 December 2020
  • 11am on Tuesday 29 December until Sunday 3 January 2021

Simon Fielding, who also directed and co-produced the production said:

“In these uncertain and worrying times, the thought of not bringing any panto magic to our wonderful and loyal audiences was unthinkable. We decided that we had to do something to lift everyone’s spirits – and what
better way than with our best-selling, most popular panto of all time!
I hope you enjoy this fabulous family favourite, and I can’t wait to see you all when we return with Beauty and the Beast in 2021.”

Simon Scott-Pearce, Towngate’s Theatre Manager said:

“Every year for the last 15 years we have been able to bring families together with the Towngate’s pantomimes. I’m pleased to say that even in these unprecedented times, we can continue with this wonderful tradition. Although the festive frolics will be on your screens, I’m thrilled that we are ending this year on such a wonderful note with this fun packed screening of Snow White. We have missed you, our valued and loyal audiences so much in 2020, we cannot wait to safely welcome you back through our auditorium doors in 2021.”

There will be two screenings of Snow White available to stream, tickets cost £10 per household with unlimited views during the chosen running dates. Audiences can choose between the first screening which will be available from 11am on Wednesday 23 December until midnight on Monday 28 December 2020, or the second screening which will be available from 11am on Tuesday 29 December until midnight on Sunday 3 January 2021.
