Beverley Cuddy calls for change to laws around stolen dogs

More than 2,000 dogs were reported stolen to police in England and Wales last year, and for the sixth year in a row, Staffordshire Bull Terriers are the most popular breed to be targeted by thieves.

Research published by Direct Line Pet Insurance reveals the trend for expensive cross breeds like Puggles (pug and a beagle) and Schnoodles  (schnauzer and a poodle) means they too are at risk.

The Freedom of Information request to police forces found cross breed thefts have risen by almost half (42%) in the last year.
