With most small businesses now being run from homes across Britain, managing productivity is more important than ever, and cyber security risks are up. Thankfully, new research by Vodafone’s small business team has found 40% of Brits working from home have been more productive than when they were working in the office – but one third have been targeted by more ‘phishing’ attacks.
With the workforce enjoying managing their own time (61%) & saving time on their commute (60%), it seems small business employees have replaced commuting time with working time.
The research by Vodafone found 40% of workers have worked an average of 642 hours extra since lockdown began back in March. This equates to an average of 26 working days!
As well as being more productive, people are also contributing to their local economies – even though people aren’t in the office, a quarter of us are going out to local coffee shops and cafes for lunch and coffee breaks. It’s great that workers are still able to support small businesses, even when they’re at home.
Aston spoke to Piers Linney, former Dragons’ Den investor and now business adivsor at Vodafone to discuss the new findings and how SME’s can ensure they are running as productively as possible.
