Lockdown has been tough… But many of us have heard about the return of fish to rivers, birds in the sky and a feeling that the environment is somehow benefiting. Well, there just might be something in that.
According to new a report out today from Essity, half of us say we have become more sustainable since the beginning of lockdown. We’ve been buying less plastic, recycling more and reducing single-use items.
But the key is that now lockdown is starting to come to a close, most of us (80%) say we are going to stick with our new habits.
For the first time Brits have been forced to spend much more time indoors and as a result 60% of have gained a greater appreciation for the green spaces around us. In effect, lockdown has made us care more about the environment and our place within it.
Aston spoke to Ella Daish, environmental activist and Jo Pybus from Essity to discuss how life will change post lockdown when it comes to living sustainably, offer advice on how you can go greener without changing your entire life and what companies can and should be doing to help.
