Listen: Amanda Stretton on the future of the used car market

With many people remaining reluctant to use public transport, more of us are thinking about upgrading our cars with data showing a booming second-hand market. Dealers are expecting customers to fuel a further frenzy after sales have tripled year on year to January, according to Motorway.co.uk, and rising by 50% in March this year compared to the previous month.

The more economical compact cars are expected to lead the charge having featured among four of the top five sellers during the pandemic – families are still likely to be in love with SUVs as they look to travel more around the UK, while high-end vehicles are set to still be the choice of those looking to upgrade and invest in something flashy to show-off.

Aston spoke to motoring expert and racing driver Amanda Stretton to reflect on how the pandemic affected the used car market, and what the future looks like for those looking to buy and sell moving forward, and out of restrictions.
