With holidaymakers playing quarantine roulette every two weeks, a third of Brits either own or would consider buying a second home in the UK. Allowing them to holiday at any time without the fear of quarantine.

Research conducted by The Guild of Property Professionals has shown an increase in those looking for second homes, for holidays as an alternate base as the UK adds more and more countries to the no go list as Europe increases in Covid cases.

The 35-44s age bracket are the most interested in having a second property in the UK, with 45% looking to add a second home. As prices rise, and accommodation is booked out across the country, Brits are looking at property now more than ever to generate income, with a quarter (22%) looking to buy a property to list as an Airbnb.

Aston spoke to Iain McKenzie, CEO of The Guild of Property Professionals to discuss the return of the British holiday home.
