Argos has revealed its top toy predictions for Christmas, its annual list of the toys expected to make wish lists across the UK this year.
This year’s list of the top 12 toys comes after lockdown prompted a wave of nostalgia amongst the British public for our favourite childhood toys, according to new figures released today.
The research commissioned by Argos shows that half (50 per cent) of parents have reminisced about their old toys during lockdown, with over one fifth (22 per cent) planning to buy something that conjures memories of their childhood for their own children this Christmas. Four in 10 have also said they will buy their children toys that encourage active, imaginative play.
The figures come as Argos reveals its annual Top Toys for Christmas list. Among the toys expected to feature on thousands of children’s Christmas lists across the UK this year are a LEGO Lamborghini, a flamingo that sits on the toilet and poos, a dancing unicorn and an animatronic doll of ‘The Child’ from Disney’s The Mandalorian – affectionately known as Baby Yoda.
Argos will be continuing to produce the iconic printed Christmas Gift Guide, inspiring families as they get together to circle products they would love to find under the tree.
Aston spoke to Peter Jenkinson, founder of Toyology and toyologist to talk about the predicted top toys for this Christmas, and new research which shows how the nation has rekindled its love for childhood toys in lockdown.
