NHS march taking place this Saturday

On Saturday 8th August, NHS workers across Basildon, East Thurrock and the Essex area are taking part in a peaceful march which will start at Basildon Hospital and finish at Basildon Town Centre.

It comes after recent annoucements from the government, when they announced pay rises within the public sector. But when announced pay rises in the public sector, NHS workers were not included as getting a pay rise within the public sector

Throughout the pandemic the NHS have lost key health workers due to coronavirus. So before the NHS march begins, they will be holding a minutes silence to remember the NHS workers, who have sadly lost their lives throughout the pandemic.

Aston spoke to Leah Sparks who is one of the organisers of the NHS march to discuss more about the NHS march and also what the NHS have been going through, throughout the pandemic.
