Thurrock celebrates National Adoption Week

Thurrock Council is celebrating National Adoption Week, taking place from Monday 12 to Sunday 18 October, by hosting a virtual information session for those interested in welcoming a child or young person into their lives through adoption.

Cllr James Halden, Cabinet Member for Social Care, said:

“Adoption is a great way for people and families to open their hearts and offer a loving home to Thurrock’s most vulnerable children. Through adopting a child or young person you can offer a permanent home to those who are not able to be looked after by their own families, and provide them with an environment that best meets their needs.

“An excellent offer of support awaits those who decide to adopt with us including bespoke training and advice from our specialist team, and the opportunity to be connected with other adopters and support groups to share your knowledge and experiences. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, cultures and statuses, including people who live outside of Thurrock.

“Our information session is a great way to find out about what adopting involves and the types of the children that are looking for a loving new home. Our experienced social workers will also be at hand to answer any questions you may have.

“I hope those across our community and beyond can consider where they have a space in their home, and their heart, to adopt a child.”
