Forget giving the dog a bone – give them a well-deserved holiday!

Earlier this year thousands of us were forced to cancel our holiday bookings, city breaks and weekends away. But after recent spells of warm weather and the August Bank Holiday just around the corner, thoughts are starting to return to summer getaways.

Interestingly however, 76% of cat or dog owners admit they would choose a holiday in the UK just so they can take their beloved pets away with them more easily.

54% say they are worried their pet would get hurt travelling on a plane or ferry, resulting in 84% choosing to take their pet on holiday via car, according to research from national pet charity, Blue Cross. Luckily for us, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to scenic spots in Britain – from camping in Cornwall to hiking in the Lake District.

Aston spoke to Kerry Taylor, education manager at Blue Cross to discuss more on how we can enhance our holidays by keeping our pets by our side. Whatever the journey or the destination, Kerry’s also on hand to offer top tips and advice to ensure safe travels with pets this summer to make sure all members of the family enjoy a safe and happy trip.
