A treatable condition that’s causing stress for families

Bedwetting is a medical condition with psychological ramifications. Also known as enuresis, it is something that most experience in their early years, but it is not something we should assume children will just grow out of.

In fact, almost half (46%) of UK parents responding to a survey report their child has wet the bed since their fifth birthday, while one in ten (10%) of those aged 4 to 7 years-old wet the bed every night. On average, children wet the bed once every eight months.

The problem has only become worse during the pandemic, with 18% of these parents saying bedwetting has become more frequent in their household, according to new research from Bladder & Bowel UK.

Aston spoke to Davina Richardson, children’s specialist nurse at Bladder & Bowel UK.
