Dr Sarah Jarvis on keeping to lockdown restrictions

Despite the success of the vaccination programme and cases reducing, it is still urgent for the public to stay at home and follow the guidance to stop the spread of the virus.

The public have had a lot of information to take in over the week since the Government released its four-stage plan to ease restrictions and gradually return to normality, with the first step being to re-open schools.

With schools set to re-open from the 8th of March, regular asymptomatic COVID-19 testing will be made available to ensure the safest return as possible. School remains the best place for children to be, not only to learn, but beyond education, school supports children’s sense of routine, mental health and wellbeing.

Even though there is a light at the end of the tunnel, infection levels are reducing, and millions of people have received the first dose of the vaccine, it is still important to stay at home and continue to follow the rules while the restrictions begin to ease.

The virus is still very much around us and people can easily spread it, so is important for everyone to work together to slow the spread.

So what does this mean for us all? How can we all do our part to ensure we reach these milestones and begin to return to normality?
