Millions of renters could be missing out on renovations

Whilst millions of homeowners have spent lockdown doing up their properties, millions more who rent their own homes have not been able to as they are unsure of their rights.

The last year has seen a boom in DIY sales as people have used lockdown to spruce up, extend and improve their homes.

But new research released today by Smart Energy GB shows that 95% of the renters polled would love to have given their homes makeovers if they had their landlord’s ‘go-ahead’.

Aston spoke to property expert Kate Faulkner and Robert Cheesewright, director of communications at Smart Energy GB to discuss what renters can do to update their properties, to help amplify the voice of UK renters and provide more clarity on their rights more broadly.
