New figures released today suggest that fear of catching COVID-19 at the dentist is causing people to take their dental care into their own hands.
The research commissioned by Oral B surveyed 2,000 UK adults; nearly a fifth of whom say they are too scared to visit the dentist in case they catch COVID-19. 20 per cent have been employing at-home dental treatments, such as fitting fillings, using stain removal products and pain-numbing creams, which could put them at serious risk of dental problems.
Over a quarter of Brits have also given up on the basic level of personal hygiene since the start of the pandemic. 26 per cent of people admitted they no longer take a daily shower, 23 per cent are no longer brushing their teeth twice a day and a fifth do not bother to get dressed anymore, preferring to stay in their pyjamas.
Aston spoke to TOWIE star Lauren Pope and dental hygienist Claire Berry to discuss the findings and offer tips and advice on how to look after your teeth.
