Basildon Town Centre plans get final approvement

Basildon Council cabinet have approved the final masterplan for the town centre. The plans are intended to be completed within the next five years.

A new cinema, market place, bars and restaurants, a college, and two thousand new homes are expected to be built within the time frame. There is also a possibility for an extension of the Townsgate Theatre.

Basildon Council has partnered with Barratt Wilson Dowden with the current masterplan. Currently it is considered to be an Interim Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) and will become part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) for future town centre planning applications.

The development project is one of the largest town centre regeneration projects in the country and will benefit the community and businesses.
