I was joined by Karen Sinclair from the Essex Youth Offending Team yesterday to talk about the Rucksack Project.
The Rucksack Project is a system where anyone could donate any of the following to help the homeless:
- Sleeping Bags/Rucksacks
- Fleeces/Warm Coat
- Tracksuit Bottoms
- Thick Socks/Gloves
- Cans with ringpulls/Spoons
- Toothpaste/brushes/mouthwash
- New underwear
- Wooly Hats/Flasks
- Deodorant/Wipes
- Cereal Bars
- Boiled Sweets
The donations they receive enabled the homeless to be more comfortable during the cold season. Each homeless person will receive a rucksack with the essential items such as; Clothing, oral hygiene and food with a long shelf life.
There are several donation points which are in libraries and Gateway 97.8 is one of those, other locations are below:
Billericay library
Brentwood library
Chelmsford library
Great Baddow library
South Woodham Ferrers library
Colchester library
Clacton library
Harlow library
