27th November 2018
Posted by Radio Club

I was joined by Karen Sinclair from the Essex Youth Offending Team yesterday to talk about the Rucksack Project.

The Rucksack Project is a system where anyone could donate any of the following to help the homeless:

  • Sleeping Bags/Rucksacks
  • Fleeces/Warm Coat
  • Tracksuit Bottoms
  • Thick Socks/Gloves
  • Cans with ringpulls/Spoons
  • Toothpaste/brushes/mouthwash
  • New underwear
  • Wooly Hats/Flasks
  • Deodorant/Wipes
  • Cereal Bars
  • Boiled Sweets

The donations they receive enabled the homeless to be more comfortable during the cold season.  Each homeless person will receive a rucksack with the essential items such as; Clothing, oral hygiene and food with a long shelf life.

There are several donation points which are in libraries and Gateway 97.8 is one of those, other locations are below:

Brentwood library
Chelmsford library
