Car overturns as driver loses control

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road crash in Basildon which happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The single vehicle collision happened at about 4am on Sunday, 15 December at the roundabout which joins Eastmayne and Cranes Farm Road.

A driver of a black Ford Focus appears to have lost control, struck the kerb of the roundabout, and then struck several trees. The vehicle came to rest on its roof in the middle of the roundabout.

The driver, a 24-year-old man from Basildon, was cut free from the vehicle by the fire service.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed life-threatening.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the alcohol limit and street bailed until February 8, 2014, pending further enquiries.
