Deputy Leader of Basildon Council Dies.

Stephen Horgan, deputy leader of Basildon council  and ward councillor for Billericay West passed away aged 47, after a nine year battle with cancer.

Mr Horgan (pictured left at the Basildon Sporting Village), who was also cabinet member for regeneration, passed away after his condition worsened in the past week at Basildon Hospital.

Tributes have come in from all sides of the political fence, Tony Ball Leader talking to Gateway 97.8’s Brighter breakfast says ‘it’s a sad Day for Basildon’.

  1. My brother-in-law, Stephen was a dedicated man both to his Family and the Conservative party. I have never met a man who worked harder both in illness and in health.
    His wife, Piera has been a strong and loyal partner and helpmate. His children are a credit to him.
    Our thoughts and love are with her in this difficult time.
    He will be greatly missed.

      not just as myself a prospective cllr last year but also his interview with yvonne when he came into Gateway 97.8
