Gateway meet the PM

Gateway 97.8 who won the Big society awards in December 2011 were welcomed at No 10 by David Cameron.
The afternoon started off at the treasury in Whitehall where 14 groups from across the UK all previous winners
Spent the afternoon networking and talking about there group
15 year old TOM Berry- stood up and told a packed audience that Gateway is more than a radio station having been excluded from school it has put him back on the straight and narrow and he loves the project so much he is volunteering when he leaves school in June,.
The project has helped him win Diana awards. Essex arts awards and a level 2 in radio
The project is well known for helping people and changing peoples lives
Radio is the motivation.
Danny said ” Tom was given a responsibility to be our film critic and to own the role which he has done”
At the treasury event all the other groups treated tom like a celebrity for standing up.
Later in the day Alison H a Disabled member. Tom Berry Danny Lawrence and Tyler went to no 10

Later in the day the gateway team discussed with the prime minister what makes gateway special and why we are the only radio station in the UK to be award holders
David Cameron – spoke to all members and was interested in Toms discussion on confidence building
The prime minister said
“its groups like this that put the Great into Great Britain !
