The highly established Kayzar Dance School have not been included in the line-up to perform at Basildon Council’s Celebration of Youth Awards.

The dance school had expressed an interest to perform at the awards celebration, set to take place on 7th November at the Townsgate Theatre, three months in advance. Kayzar Dance Studios were offering to perform for free, however the council contacted the dance school stating that applications had closed.

The dance school has local recognition from performances at Basildon and Pitsea Carnival, Wickford Carnival and Basildon’s Trust Crime event. They also have international accolade having been crowned the best UK dance school at the UDO World Street Dance Championships. The dancers also performed at the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony, as well as in America for Barack Obama.

Basildon Council has stated that the cut off date for local talent application forms was on 15 August. However, this deadline was not noted in the email, with the dance school responding on 31 August. The council hopes that Kayzar will be able to perform at the 2013 awards.
