The land to be the ‘new Dale farm’ may be a failed plan before it has had a chance to be adopted. It was reported last month that, a planning application for a 15 caravan site at Gardiners Close had been submitted. However, it would appear that Basildon council chiefs may be against the idea.
The Irish Traveller Movement wanted the council to develop these pitches for the most vulnerable of families who were evicted from Dale Farm last year.
The owners of the land, the Homes and Communities Agency, require Basildon Council to accept the 15 caravan site and give them the all clear before the site is developed.
The plans need to be supported by Basildon Council before the Homes and Communities Agency will consider the application on their land.
