Police are appealing for information following a dog attack in Basildon.
The incident happened when a three-year-old local girl was playing in Somercotes Park shortly after 2:30pm on Sunday, September 2. She was approached by a dog, similar to a pit bull terrier, who bit her on the arm and on the head.
Investigating Officer, Pc Emily Lurton, said: “This dog was in the presence of a young girl who stated that she was looking after the animal for its owner whom she did not know. With this in mind, we’re looking for witnesses to the attack and those who recall seeing the young female minder so that we can identify her and find out who owns the dog.”
A search of the area was carried out by police, but to no avail. The girl did not require any medical treatment.
Anyone with information in connection with this dog attack is urged to contact investigating officers at Basildon police station on 101.
