Soccer Stars Final Kicks off at Southend Airport

Southend United stars put a group of young footballers through their paces on the front lawn of London Southend Airport on Thursday 11th April to find the winner of the 2019Soccer Starsfootball competition and send them on a dream trip to Spain.

The event, in association with easyJet and the Southend United Community and Educational Trust (SUCET), saw eight finalists drawn from 14 from local schoolstake part in a “You Know the Drill” style contest being run by top scoring SUFC striker Simon Cox and Defender John White. 

The winner was Reuben form Fairways Primary School in Leigh-on-Sea who wonan all-expenses paid trip to Barcelona for their family. The prize includes tickets to watch Barcelona play at the legendary Nou Camp Stadium, and a 3-night stay in a 4-star hotel, thanks to easyJet.

Everyone who took part in the event received a medal in the prize-giving ceremony concluded the event.

This is the first initiative since London’s favourite airport announced it was providing sponsorship funds and working alongside Southend United Community & Educational Trust (SUCET) on a number of projects, all aimed at engaging with and enriching the lives of people of all ages, abilities, backgrounds and interests.
