Stabbing near Roundacre petrol garage Update

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a stabbing in Basildon.

Accident & Emergency Staff at Basildon University Hospital had initially contacted police shortly after 1:30am on Sunday, August 12 to report that a man had been brought in with stab wounds.

Officers arrived at the hospital and found a 36-year-old local man with abdominal injuries. He remains there in a stable condition.

Further information came in that the victim had initially asked for assistance at the nearby BP petrol station on Roundacre and this was cordoned off by police throughout Sunday morning while scenes of crime officers carried out their work.

Three people were arrested at a flat in the town in the early hours of Sunday morning in connection with the stabbing. An 18-year-old man from Charlton in south London, a 24-year-old woman from Basildon and a 20-year-old man of no fixed address were all later released on police bail until various dates later this month (August) and in October.
