Dozens of people looking for work or considering a career change attended last week’s South Essex Skills Roadshow in Grays.

Organised by Thurrock Council, the event took place at South Essex College last Thursday (7 March) and was attended by about 80 people.

Stands were manned by local and national businesses across sectors including leisure, construction, logistics, care and ICT, with some even receiving job applications on the day. Training providers and other organisations were also on hand to offer help and advice.

Exhibitors included Thurrock Adult Community College, Go Train, Thurrock CVS/Volunteer Centre, Impulse Leisure, Kier, United Living, SPD Nursecare, Anglia Ruskin University, Chevron Traffic Management, Wates and South Essex College.

There was also the chance for people to try the council’s new virtual reality software, which offers a glimpse into work in logistics.

The South Essex Skills Roadshow has been organised by Thurrock, Castle Point, Basildon, Rochford and Southend Councils and also includes events in Southend and Basildon.
