Two weeks on from a fatal road crash in Basildon, police are renewing their appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The collision happened when a red Mini Cooper struck a pedestrian on Dry Street shortly before 8pm on Tuesday, May 28.

Justin Bowman, a 23-year-old man from Polsteads in Basildon, was conveyed by paramedics to the nearby hospital after sustaining multiple injuries, but sadly died a short time later.

A specific appeal for a middle-aged man wearing a blue T-shirt was successful as a statement was taken from him during the morning of Monday, June 10.

The 24-year-old female car driver from Chelmsford was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and then released on police bail until Tuesday, September 17 pending further enquiries.
