Battle of the Bands Highlights

On April 20th, we teamed up with the Rotary Club of Corringham Thameside and the Yellow Advertiser to bring you a spectacular sold out Battle of the Bands event in aid of the Karis May Darling Foundation. A fantastic night was had, with 6 bands performing, and over £1390 was raised for the fantastic cause.

Many thanks to all the bands that performed, New Era, Accidental Tourists, Pretty Strange Things, The Ends, Soma Rising, and Something Simple. And of course to those who didn’t make it through to the finals, Green Mile, I Prefer Space Travel, Blackstorm Sound, False Heads, We Were Lions, and My Heroine.

Gateway 97.8 on the Community Channel

In February, the Community Channel came to Gateway 97.8 to film a segment on us, to be broadcast later in the year.

It was featured on their UK360 programme, which focuses on various news items from around the country, hosted by a variety of celebrities – this time, Scott Mills from Radio 1.

Royal Visit to Basildon

Tuesday 17th May was a real red-letter day for the team at Gateway 97.8, for it was when His Royal Highness Prince Richard, The Duke of Gloucester came to visit the station.
