This Sunday (14th April) is the 1,000th Formula 1 Grand Prix in the sport’s history which is taking place round the Shanghai international circuit in China which is the 3rd round of the 2019 Formula 1 world championship.
The sport was born in 1950 with the first ever Grand Prix held round the famous Silverstone circuit in England, that race would be won be Italian driver Giuseppe Farina in an Alfa Romeo 158, who would go on to become the sport’s first world champion. Since then there have been 69 world championships with 33 different drivers to have claimed at least one world title.
Daytime presenter and Formula 1 fan Aston Avery spoke to Formula 1 blogger and fan Alex Holland-Martin about the history of the sport and also the build up to the 1,000th Grand Prix.
