With Christmas just five days away(!), it’s no surprise that, in households across the UK, tensions are running high. Last minute presents are being bought and wrapped this weekend, and guest bedrooms are being prepared for those relatives we thankfully only really see once a year. However, the boiling-point will not come down to who has the final stuffing ball this Christmas…

New research from streaming platform company Roku, Inc.  found that family arguments will ensue on the big day in a quarter (25%) of households across Britain, , and not over what one may think. Instead of temperatures rising over the burnt pigs-in-blankets, or dodgy Yorkshire puds, families will butt heads over what to watch on the telly.

Despite the report finding that Brits will have their TV on for seven hours on average on Christmas day itself, only a quarter (25%) of us will tune in to watch The Queen’s Speech, with Christmas Specials (52%) at the top of Brits’ viewing preferences, closely followed by Christmas films (51%).

Aston spoke to Jonathan Tapper, gogglebox star to discuss moments of Christmas TV gold, the arguments we all endure over Christmas and the easy remedies to them.
